A Citizen’s Guide to Disaster Preparedness and Community Resiliency

Hurricane season is again upon us. Due to climate change, storms are ever more frequent and severe.

Is your family ready for the next storm?

Please join us at the Port Washington Public Library, or on Zoom, to learn how you can better prepare for the next climate emergency and what we all can do to build a more resilient Port Washington.

This important program, designed by Erin Molyneux and David Jakim, who are Board Members of the Center for Disaster Resilience Solutions, will provide up-to-date information about specific steps everyone should take to be better prepared for the next natural disaster.  As a waterfront community, it is important to recognize the risks and vulnerabilities that a changing climate poses to our peninsula and to mitigate these risks through preparedness and community action. This presentation reviews the extent of flooding during Superstorm Sandy and discusses current flood maps, which shed light onto what may be coming next.  This event is not to be missed!
