Transition Town Port Washington is proud to partner with the Port Washington Union Free School District and Aramark to bring your child
Plastic-Free Lunch!
Change is already under way in our Port Washington Public School cafeterias! On Wednesday, November 8, we will celebrate Plastic-Free Lunch Day USA and begin the transition to a plastic-free lunch period for your child.
This is the result of 3 years of work with student leaders at Schreiber and Weber to educate our school community about the health and environmental impact of single-use plastics on our children.
The Plastic Free Lunch Day Movement, lead by Cafeteria Culture, was started by 5th Graders in NYC and is now being adopted across the country.
How do you prep for plastic-free lunch? If your child wants to bring lunch from home, please avoid single-useplastics for this special day and beyond!
Thank you to the Port Washington Union Free School District and Aramark for being leaders in protecting our children’s health and their future well-being. And thank you to the Transition Town Youth Activists for fighting for a better world!
