TTPW Youth Internship Program

TTPW Youth Activist meeting with TTPW mentors Margaret Galbraith and Heather Simon Clark

TTPW Youth Activists took their incredible work to the next level through our TTPW Youth Intern Program in the spring of the 2023-2024 school year. Interns expanded the environmental actions and community projects of the youth activist group through objectives like the installation of a beach clean-up station in Sands Point Preserve, data collection for a citizen-science water testing program, and the reinstitution of the recycling program in the Port Washington school district.

Each intern received a stipend and certificate of commendation from Transition Town Port Washington at an uplifting TTPW Youth Intern Recognition Ceremony.

Our 2024-2025 TTPW youth interns are building on this success by setting bigger goals and mentoring future youth activists. Taking the districtwide accomplishments to their fellow Port students, our youth interns developed information presentations for students in the elementary schools by creating an original music video and a slideshow highlighting the importance of reducing waste and how to recycle properly. We'll be keeping you updated on their ongoing work and other accomplishments!
